Valakas reform

A land reform carried out in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the mid-16th century, by which peasants' land was measured and divided into standard plots – valakas. This allowed for more efficient tax collection, consolidated serfdom, and radically changed the Lithuanian landscape, forming the three-field system still visible today.
