Sokratas
Graikų filosofas, laikomas Vakarų filosofijos pradininku. Jis teigė, kad išmintis prasideda nuo pripažinimo, jog nieko nežinai („Žinau, kad nieko nežinau“). Jo metodas – dialogas ir nuolatinis klausinėjimas (sokratinis metodas), siekiant atskleisti tiesą ir išgryninti sąvokas, tokias kaip teisingumas ar dorybė. Už savo idėjas Atėnų piliečių buvo nuteistas mirti.
