Mikalojus Kopernikas
Lenkijos astronomas, suformulavęs heliocentrinę visatos teoriją, teigiančią, kad Žemė sukasi aplink Saulę, o ne atvirkščiai. Savo knygoje „Apie dangaus sferų sukimąsi“ (1543 m.) jis metė tiesioginį iššūkį tūkstantmetei geocentrinei sistemai ir ją palaikiusiai Bažnyčiai. Tai buvo vienas svarbiausių Mokslo revoliucijos žingsnių.
