Pagumburyje gaminamas ir hipofizės užpakalinėje skiltyje kaupiamas hormonas. Jis didina vandens reabsorbciją (grąžinimą į kraują) inkstų surenkamuosiuose latakuose. Veikiant ADH, išskiriama mažiau, bet labiau koncentruoto šlapimo. Jo sekrecija didėja dehidratacijos metu.
