Adomas Mickevičius
A poet born in Navahrudak, who wrote in Polish but considered himself a citizen of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. He was the most prominent representative of Romanticism in the culture of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the author of the poems ‘Dziady’ (Forefathers’ Eve) and ‘Pan Tadeusz’. His work inspired the uprisings of 1831 and 1863.
